Ok, so I keep dropping all the Thoreau quotes. I thought I would explain that just a bit.
Back in the 1800's Thoreau did his own experiment by going into the woods to really discover what taking responsibility for his own life would bring. For better or worse he was basically fed up with the way society was structured and wanted to do something new. To see if he could find a satisfying life that was based on his own terms.
Was he successful? According to him he was. He said, "If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours."
So this is the gauntlet that I am picking up. Can this be done in modern world? I am not interested in going into the woods like he did, but to see if there is a modern day version of his ideas. So, if I talk a lot about him and keep quoting him, you will know why!
I wanted to thank you for sharing your adventure with everyone. I hope you will continue, blog, paper, tape, whatever you have at hand. I know how liberating it is to leave the social norm of a life which I'm sure you're feeling. Eventually the adrenaline wears off, just celebrate every moment you have good or bad, live, and know that you have friends that love and think about you constantly.
